Christophe de Groote is a European Patent Attorney. He joined ICOSA Europe in 2023 as a consultant.
Christophe began his career in 1986 developing automated visual quality control systems in the nuclear industry (Belgonucléaire). A few years later, he joined Nissan’s European Research and Development Center (Nissan European Technology Centre), where he spent ten years leading a team responsible for technology and regulatory monitoring for the European market, particularly in the areas of advanced electronic systems and alternative propulsion systems (electric and hybrid vehicles).
He then redirected his career toward intellectual property, joining an IP consultancy where he became Head of the Patent Department and a member of the board of directors. After leaving the firm, he set up his own practice and later co-founded Pecher & de Groote, which became ABYOO in 2016. ABYOO subsequently merged with ICOSA Europe in June 2023.
Through this diverse background, Christophe has gained extensive experience both in industry and in intellectual property practice. He has also acquired significant expertise in patent litigation, in Belgium and abroad. In Belgium, he has acted on several occasions as a Court-Appointed Expert in infringement seizure proceedings.
