Sophia Belkehlfa is a patent attorney specializing in biotechnology, molecular biology, and biological engineering.

Sophia earned her PhD in Evolution and Biological Engineering from Université Paris-Saclay, following a Master’s Degree (M2) in Synthetic and Systems Biology from Université d’Évry, a Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology from Université de Versailles, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Université Paris Descartes.

She began her career as a postdoctoral researcher at INRA, contributing to the European CHASSY project, where she developed a lipid remobilization pathway as a carbon and energy reserve. Prior to that, she was a research engineer at CEA, where she also completed her doctoral thesis in evolutionary biology and biological engineering.

More recently, Sophia worked as a patent examiner at the French IP Office (INPI), focusing on medical devices and biotechnology. She joined ICOSA’s Biology/Biotech/Techbio department in 2022.

Sophia supports French and international startups, primarily in patent prosecution before the INPI and the EPO.
